Hotel Gotham to open in Manchester
Work is underway on the 191-key new-build Hotel Gotham on Portland Street, Manchester.
The property, which is being built next to the Townhouse Hotel, which is also managed by Hotel Gotham, will be a “homage to the Golden Age of New York City”.
It will feature 191 rooms, a rooftop bar called Brooklyn Heights, and Runyon’s restaurant, inspired by the short stories and plays of Broadway writer Damon Runyon, as well as an events space that can accommodate over 200 people.
The £45 million construction project is being overseen by developer Marshall CDP and will opening the spring of 2020.
The hotel’s interior design has been created by Squid Inc, the company behind the Art Deco-themed interiors of Bespoke’s Hotel Gotham on Manchester’s King Street.
Bespoke chairman Robin Sheppard said: “Alongside its sister establishment, Hotel Gotham, Brooklyn is poised to take a starring role in Manchester’s luxury hospitality portfolio. It isn’t merely offering a bed for the night, but rather access to a hub of untamed, creative energy, flanked on all sides by the city’s dynamic nightlife and glamour.”
Graham Marskell, managing director of operations for Bespoke Hotels, added: “We are tremendously excited to be deepening our relationship with the city of Manchester, through the launch of a new boutique property in its centre. We have enjoyed an extremely positive response from the local market since launching Hotel Gotham, and we hope to maintain this momentum when Brooklyn opens its doors in early 2020.”
The project will create more than 100 new jobs.
